The Los Angeles city government does not work for the people.
In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, Mayor Eric Garcetti and the LA City Council failed to adequately protect Angelenos from the impacts of coronavirus pandemic. They failed to pass tenant rights legislation—such as rent and eviction moratoriums—or to pass legislation to support and protect our unhoused neighbors. Instead, Mayor Garcetti continued to propose increasing the LAPD budget even though the LAPD is considered one of the most murderous police departments in the country.
In light of our local government’s explicit and willing neglect of our communities, the People’s City Council formed as a platform for different racial, economic, and environmental justice organizations to come together and fight for the city that we—the people—want. PCC has evolved from its first incarnation, but its values remain the same. To learn more about who we are, follow the link below.
